Ladies and Gentlemen,

A discussion today in game with Scot-ama and Emeleth led me to experiment with a character trainer/builder module that uses the DN specific class changes.

It's not practical to publish such a thing, but as players of DN you can all do it yourself.

Here's a step by step. For this to work, you must have the standard DN haks installed on your computer. And if you can play on DN then you've done that smile.gif

1) Download the Halls of Advanced Training from NWVault. Linky:Halls of Advanced Training

2) Install it to nwn/modules as the instructions explain.

3) Open your toolset.

4) Load the Halls of Advanced Training.

5) Go to the [edit] pulldown menu and select [Module Properties].

6) Go to the [Custom Content] tab.

7) In the scroll box just above [Check for Conflicts] select the following haks one at a time and click [Add].

dn1server
dn1_2da_v166_005
dn1_misc
dn1_swamp
dn1_monster
dn1_tile
dn1_place
dn1_texture

8) Use the [Move Up] and [Move Down] buttons to get all the haks in the exact order above. This is VERY important.

9) Go to the [Custom Tlk File] and select the dn1_v166_005 Tlk file.

10) Click okay to exit [Module Properties]

11) [Save As] your new module. I named mine "Halls of Advanced Training - Dreu Noctem". edit: Forgot to mention it will require a "build" of the module. However, the halls is a small module and it only took my old comp 15 minutes. And it's a one time thing (assuming everything works right).

12) Start a new game using that module and make your test character in the Halls.

Have fun! If you find any bugs feel free to post them here. We can try to work it out.

Note: The custom spells and new class abilities of DN will be available on Level up. And you can read the spells in game. However, many of the spells will not function because they are built into the DN module. However, that doesn't mean you can't try out character builds. The Halls doesn't provide much in the way of testing grounds for you magic and combat abilities.

Pinned.

Also note that as we update to new versions of the 2DA HAK and TLK, you'll need to maintain your trainer module by replacing the 005 HAK and TLK in the instructions above with whatever the latest version of stuff is that we have released. We are planning to release v006 sometime before Halloween, hoepfully.

I've found 1 difference

When I create a human bard with 14 int on trainer it starts with 36 skill points but when I try to do it for real in DN I only get 28 ?

Which is correct

DN's "6 skill points per level" for bards dosen't kick in till Level2.

It uses the old 4 skillpoints to start from stock bioware for Level 1 char creation.

So 4(base)+2(int)+1(human) = 28 = correct.

Awesome.

Thanks Don and Scott and Kathy!  :)

Heh ehh I only lent me ear.. Scott & Don did all the yakking :-)

Will attempt such merging with NWN, DN, HoAT and me brain... not good combo with that last part.. we'll see.

Erm, I have the deluxe version from long ago, I reckon that would work too. It just adds the SoU and HotU things.

*crosses fingers that she doesn't bork nwn*

EDIT: Ok, did exactly as you said... but I think there is a step missing because doing the adding haks, adding again since they are not showing on the edit and list haks applied, and also doing the conflict resources. I just tried to do a wizzie and I am showing none of the DN spells that should be there.

Ahh well, will just do it the old fashioned way :-)

One of the reasons things don't kick in until level 2 is the differences between single player and multiplayer. In multiplayer, HAKs are not loaded during character creation, but I think they may be in single player.

This difference is the reason we give Bards Rogue Weapon Proficiency at L2 instead of L1, for example.

So, you'll probably find that rangers get more skill points offline at L1 as well.

So one thing you can do to fully simulate would be to load your test module as a LAN/Multiplayer game instead of single player.

Just remember to stick a password on, or you might get company. ohmy.gif

Don't laugh, it happened once at a LAN/NWN weekend I had. smile.gif

Probably not a huge issue with all the HAKs and TLKs we require.

Ok, might be silly Q but how would I put a seq stone in? I have all the haks and the tlk but I want to put a chest in that has all 3 seq stones (reg, targeting and Pally) in for the spellcasters I might want to test out.

Do I have to find where they are in the haks and export/import them? And if so.. lol, which hak would they be in? I looked into the misc and place haks and didn't find them... I think lol Or should I also put Kev's EMS hak into the trainer as well and see if there is one in there?

Just the stones.. I don't need to have anything else DN in there as far as items since I used HoAT for the base mod for this particular trainer.

Thanks!

If it's any help, the tags are "ems_seq", "ems_seq_to", and "ems_seq_pal". And yes: either adding the EMS hak to the trainermod (or just having EMS in your override dir) will make them available

Ohh thank you Kev!!

I will just make double sure and add your EMS then. And with the DN hak already added to the mod, everyting should work fine.

.....well it should.. but this is me we are talking about LOL!
