Hi folks,

Only fairly recently gotten a proper computer again and can't quite believe it was 18 months without one.

Back when I was messing around on DN I was also working on a PW of my own, Temple of the Forgotten. I thought it died in the Great Multiple Computer Death Spree of early 2006 but just recently found a backed-up copy that wasn't too buggy and fired it up for the hell of it. It was a crazy mixture of Settlers, Stargate and NWN.

Oh ... it was heartbreaking. I got so far with it. It had the DN spell set and EMS, plus about 12 spells that were too weird and wonderful to make it into DN without breaking everything. It had a nearly-finished prestige class. It had a not-really-finished automatic population generator that could handle a Settlers-type population of workers, crafters and warriors that actually did work even when the creatures composing it were despawned. Sigh. But I not so much bit off more than I could chew but actually bit off my own head. It would take a team of 10 people a year to get the full potential out of it, and probably end up having to run on a Cray. But with a population of 120 and one player, it wasn't even touching 3% CPU usage on one processor, so maybe not ...

More innocent deaths - the sandpit version of ToF had a living population of about 120 so plenty of guinea pigs

someone strange from DN made me do this

it was one of those days

as well as negative energy damage visuals, I also rigged up a system whereby certain creatures are healed by certain energy types - eg. undead healed by negative energy weapons, fire elementals healed by fire damage etc. - in this case the physical blow was enough to kill the skeleton but you can still see a bit of healing kicking in there

a Platform in action - you read out ten Runes to be transported to another Platform - part of the game involved discovery of addresses - NPC factions actually send caravans and (eventually) raiding parties through them

you know you have your priorities wrong when you're designing entire planes but not actually building any actual player support into the world

I work full time now, have finally turned into an almost-proper sign language communicator - so just don't have time. It's work, sofa, work, sofa. But I still drift off into what this mod might have been.

glhf!
